Kentridge, Laurie Simmons, Catherine Sullivan, The Wooster Group As aligned with the previous exhibitions of Coreana
Museum of Art centered on the performance art, Code Act shed a light to the signification processes of
performances closely engaged with various mediums like objet, painting,
installation, technology and its adjacent fields including literature, theatre,
film and history. It questions what kind of codes a de-contextualized or hybrid
performance scenario connotes; it inquires how these gestures and acts in
performances could overturn the institutionalized and customized codes. Presenting the works by the artists including The
Wooster Group, Joan Jonas, William Kentridge, John Bock, Catherine Sullivan,
Geumhyung Jeong, Mary Reid Kelley, who successfully bridge the fields of the
arts-theater, film, dance, performance, drawing and installations, the
exhibition strives to facilitate a new dimension to the discourse, often
referred to those clichés like interdisciplinary, convergence or complex genre
and discussed on a superficial level. The exhibition unfolds the various
cultural metaphors, across time and space, emerged by letting performance
intertwine with media. Hosted
