《리메이크 코리아》는 한국 전통미술에 등장하는 대표적 도상들을 차용, 반복하여 현 시대의 사회, 문화, 사상적인 인식구조를 통해 재해석하는 작가들의 작품을 리메이크의 관점에서 소개한다. 제목에 사용된 ‘리메이크remake’란 원작을 차용하여 다시 만든다는 의미로 영화나 음악에서 흔히 사용되는 용어이다.

이번 《리메이크 코리아》 참여작가들은 한국의 옛 그림들을 차용하여 원작을 재구성, 변형, 첨가하는 창조적 주석 과정을 통해 옛 도상의 단일한 의미를 복수화시키고 의미의 가능성을 확장시킨다. 본 전시에서는 원본의 의미가 현대성의 외피를 입고 새롭게 드러난 것, 원작이 가지고 있던 고정된 의미가 동시대의 맥락에서 새롭게 부가되거나 변형된 것, 이러한 의미의 확장 또는 의미 전복의 양상을 살펴볼 수 있다.
